Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what we usually get asked

How much will my custom frame cost?

Custom framing varies depending on the size of your piece, the materials chosen, and the level of finish you're after. We prefer to talk it through in person, that way we can show you different design options across a range of price points and help you find something that feels right.

If you'd like a rough idea before visiting, get in touch and we'll do our best to give you an indicative price range based on the details you can share with us.

Candidly, a custom frame will cost more than a pre-made frame mass-produced in a set size which is why we tend to think of custom framing as a long-term investment. Done well, it protects your piece, enhances it, and can last a lifetime. We'll always be upfront about what things cost and why.

Is this piece actually worth custom framing, or am I overthinking it?

If it matters to you, it's worth custom framing properly and we can help you find option that suits.

Whether your piece calls for something understated and simple or a more elaborate finish, we'll help you find a frame that works for your budget and your space.

What does the process look like, and how involved do I need to be?

It's simpler than most people expect! You bring your piece in and talk through what you're hoping for, and then we walk through some options together including moulding styles, mat colours, glass types, and mounting methods. Most consultations take around 20–30 minutes.

From there, we handle everything. We'll contact you when your frame is ready for pickup, usually within one to two weeks.

How do you help make sure the frame feels right, not just “good enough”?

We take the time to actually look at your piece with you. We'll hold different frame samples up against it, try different mat combinations, and talk through what you're drawn to and why. There's no rushing the decision, getting it right matters more to us than getting it done quickly.

We've been doing this for a long time, and we're happy to share our perspective. But ultimately, it's your piece and your space, so we follow your lead.

What materials do you use, and how will they hold up over time?

We offer a full range of materials, from everyday framing options through to archival and conservation-grade materials designed to protect valuable or irreplaceable works long-term.

We'll always explain the difference and help you choose what's appropriate for your piece.

For anything sentimental or significant, we'd generally recommend UV-protective glass and acid-free matting as a minimum, and we're happy to talk through why.

Do I need to make a booking, or can I just drop in?

You do not need to make a booking to visit us. We do recommend booking a consultation if you'd like a dedicated time and for us to prepare properly for your piece.

That said, you're always welcome to drop in if you're nearby or just want to have a look and a conversation. There's no pressure to commit to anything on the spot.

How long does custom framing take?

We do everything on site, so we're not dependent on outside workshops or third-party suppliers. Our usual turnaround is one to two weeks from the time you place your order. If you've chosen a moulding that needs to be specially ordered in, we'll let you know upfront and give you a revised timeframe.

Once your frame is ready, we'll contact you so you know to come in.

Can you frame things that aren't artwork like jerseys, certificates, or objects?

Absolutely. We frame everything, and we mean that! We challenge you to bring something in that we can't frame :)

Over the years we've framed football jerseys, cricket bats, flags, puppets, scarves, medals, memorabilia, and plenty of things that have raised an eyebrow or two. If it means something to you, bring it in and we'll work out how to do it justice.

Can you print as well as frame?

Yes. We offer printing on a wide range of mediums including photographic paper, canvas, and cotton rag. Whether you have a digital file you'd like printed and framed, or you're looking to reproduce an existing work, we can help with the whole process from print to finished frame.

Can I get a quote before committing?

Absolutely. We prefer to see your piece in person before providing a quote, since measurements and condition can affect the options available to you. Once we've had a look, we'll walk you through everything so you can take the details away and make a decision in your own time.

If you'd like a rough idea before visiting, you're welcome to send us photos and details and we'll do our best to give you an indicative price range to start with.

Do you offer pick-up, delivery or installation?

Yes. We offer delivery and installation across Victoria, and we can also ship frames Australia-wide and internationally.

For larger or heavier pieces that are already framed, we're also happy to arrange a pickup directly from you. Just let us know when placing your order and we'll work out the best option.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes, we offer gift vouchers in any denomination. They make a great gift for someone who has a piece they've been meaning to frame, or for anyone who just moved into a new home. Ask us in store or get in touch to arrange one.

Can you re-frame, replace glass, or repair an existing frame?

Yes to all three. We regularly re-frame existing works that need to be refreshed, whether the original framing no longer suits the space, or the piece simply deserves better.

We also offer re-glazing if the glass in your current frame is damaged or you'd like to upgrade to UV protection.

For repairs, we'd need to assess the frame in person to confirm what's possible and let you know what your options are. Bring it in and we'll take a look.
